Doctor Ko-Min Chang, General Manger of Memory Department, Freescale Semiconductor Inc., Visits the Institute of Microelectronics, China Academy of Sciences
On June 30, 2009, Doctor Ko-Min Chang, General Manager of Memory Department of Freescale Semiconductor Inc., paid an academic visit to the Institute of Microelectronics, China Academy of Science at the invitation of Mr. Liu Ming (Research Fellow), Director of Micro-Processing and Nanometer Technology Laboratory. During the visit, Doctor Chang delivered a speech entitled í░Embedded Flash Technologyí▒ and also made an introduction to research and development of Freescale in terms of í░Si nanocrystals memoryí▒. Mr. Liu Ming (Research Fellow), Mr. Wang Wei (Visiting Research Fellow) and some teachers and students participated in the discussion meeting having a heated debate on the hot problems, including developing trend of nonvolatile memory technology and technical difficulties in nanocrystals memory, etc., of common concern to the academic circles and industrial circles.
Doctor Ko-Min Chang joined Motorola SPS (the predecessor of Freescale) and has been participating in research and development of 8-generation embedded flash for MCU and DSP, with over 20 yearsí» R&D experiences. Now, Freescale is the global leader in embedded semiconductor design and manufacture, whose products are designed for automobile electronics, consumer electronics, industrial and network markets. Meanwhile, Freescale Memory Department directed by Doctor Ko-Min Chang also pays close attention to new-generation memory technology engaging in R&D for silicon nanocrystals discrete-gate memory that is expected to achieve commercialization in the near future.
